- How much does artificial turf cost in Los Angeles?
- Landscape-grade turf typically runs $8-$14 per square foot installed. Pet-friendly turf lands at $10-$16, and putting greens at $15-$22. Most LA backyards total $4,000-$15,000 depending on square footage, base prep, and turf grade. Every project gets a fixed-price quote.
- How long does a turf installation take?
- Most residential turf installs take 2 to 4 working days. Larger yards or jobs with significant grading and base work can stretch to 5-7 days. We commit to a schedule before we start.
- Is artificial turf safe for kids and pets?
- Yes. The turf we install is lead-free, non-toxic, and meets safety standards for residential use. Pet-grade turf has extra-fast drainage and odor-control infill specifically for dogs.
- Does it get hot in the LA sun?
- Synthetic turf does get warmer than real grass in direct LA sun - usually 10-20°F above ambient. We install cooling infills (like ZeoFill) on request that drop surface temperature noticeably. Shade trees and a light hose-down on the hottest days also help.
- What materials and warranty do you install?
- We install premium synthetic turf from manufacturers like SynLawn, Global Syn-Turf, and Easy Turf. Materials carry a 15-year manufacturer warranty against fading and wear. RAA workmanship is covered for 5 years.
- Will my turf qualify for a SoCal water rebate?
- Many LA-area homes qualify for turf-replacement rebates from MWD, DWP, SoCal Water Smart, and similar programs - typically $2-$5 per square foot. We'll tell you exactly which programs you qualify for during the on-site quote and help with the paperwork.
- Can you install turf over my existing lawn?
- No. Existing sod has to come out, along with all roots and weed-prone topsoil. Installing turf over a real lawn traps moisture, kills the grass, and creates a soft, uneven surface that compresses over time. A proper base is the difference between a 5-year turf and a 15-year turf.
- How long does artificial turf actually last?
- Quality turf installed on a proper base lasts 15-20+ years in LA conditions. The face yarn slowly compresses with foot traffic and UV exposure, but the integrity of the install holds. Cheap turf or shortcut bases can fail in 5-7 years.
- What's the difference between landscape and pet-friendly turf?
- Pet-friendly turf has a more permeable backing (faster drainage for urine and rain), shorter and denser face yarn (easier to clean), and is usually paired with odor-control infill like ZeoFill. Landscape turf is softer underfoot and feels more natural - better if you don't have pets.
